It's a tradition to create artwork to share with everyone for Valentine's Day, and this year, I painted a brilliant red Arabian horse, with blue and aqua highlights. It proved more popular than I expected, with over 100 "likes" and dozens of comments. I'm thrilled to see how everyone liked the bright red!
When I was in high school, I painted a trio of horses in brilliant, primary oil colors. Painting these past few works has reminded me of that large painting. Although I can certainly tone down my palette today, and use modulated tones when wanted, my heart still sings to see bright colors laid down on any surface. Valentine's Day signals the perfect time to use rich reds and pulsing pinks, right when the winter's drab has become especially old. I'm glad to take advantage of this time to throw around some color, and wake our brains back up. It's a wonderful way to celebrate the gifts of love and friendship along with the chocolate I am hoping to find soon!
I'm grateful for all my fans that appreciated beautiful colors, and encourage me to continue to share horses that are a "little different" than horse art they may have seen before.
I can't wait till spring arrives late next month, and I can go ride again with my friends, cell phone camera at the ready, to look for more inspirations to share with my fellow modern horse/art lovers.
Happy Valentine's Day, everyone!
